David McKee
A Children's book illustrator and writer, most famous for his patchwork coloured elephant book, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. His first official released book was Two Can Toucan sold in 1964 (re released in 1985) which was praised for it’s clever use of colour and subject matter.

David uses a simple hand drawn, yet well executed style with a great use of eye catching colours. The simple and bold illustrations are eye catching and easy to understand for young audiences.

He is most famous for his Elmer the elephant stories. The story teaches a positive moral about diversity and loving yourself for who you are as well as about different animals and all about colours. The series was continued after the success of this book with over 30 sequels to the book being released and still continuing to this day.

As well as the books, a wide range of different merchandise has been released including Elmer toys, games and a television series following Elmer’s advenchers.
